Preparation of an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

We’ll guide your company through the process of developing an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). We support our clients at every stage: from collecting production data and conducting life cycle assessments, through independent verification, to publishing the document in a recognized EPD program and preparing data for the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an independently verified document that describes, in a comparable manner, a product’s environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle: from raw material extraction, through production and transportation, to disposal or recycling. It is based on a life cycle assessment (LCA) conducted in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, in accordance with the international standard ISO 14025 and the European standard EN 15804+A2 for construction products. An EPD is valid for five years.

For manufacturers of construction products and construction chemicals, the EPD is becoming a mandatory component of environmental reporting. The new CPR Regulation (EU) 2024/3110, which entered into force on January 7, 2025, introduces the requirement to declare a product’s carbon footprint (GWP) as early as January 8, 2026, and by January 9, 2030, it extends this requirement to the full set of environmental indicators from the EN 15804+A2 standard. This data becomes part of the information accompanying the CE mark and is included in the Digital Product Passport (DPP), the preparation of which we also support.

For manufacturers of, among other things, furniture, textiles, household cleaning products, and interior finishing materials, EPDs are now increasingly required by large retail chains, developers seeking LEED, BREEAM, or DGNB, as well as by public procurement programs—particularly within the framework of so-called green public procurement. It also provides a reliable basis for marketing communications, which—following the entry into force of the ESPR Regulation and the Green Claims Directive—can no longer rely on unsubstantiated claims.

The EPD is a tool that not only helps your company meet growing regulatory and market requirements, but also allows it to consciously build its market position—as a manufacturer that understands the environmental impact of its product, can measure it, and is willing to demonstrate it.

How will we work together?

Initial Audit and Scope of the EPD

Together, we determine which products require an EPD first and what scope for the document makes sense (cradle-this-gatecradle-to-grave) and which EPD program best suits your target markets.

Data Identification and Collection

Together with your team, we organize data from the production facility (consumption of raw materials, energy, and water; waste management; transportation; and packaging) filling in the gaps using estimation methods that comply with the relevant standards.

LCA Analysis and Document Preparation

We model the product life cycle using professional industry software in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, and based on the results, we prepare an EPD in full compliance with the relevant PCR (Product Category Rules) and the selected program.

Independent verification

We guide your company through the document verification process conducted by an independent, accredited verifier, preparing all necessary documentation and addressing any comments until a positive decision is reached.

Publication and Preparation of Data for the DPP

We publish EPDs in the selected program and organize environmental data in a format that allows for its further use - in the Digital Product Passport (DPP), CE marking, CSRD reporting, and communication with customers.

Results of cooperation

The result of this collaboration is a verified Product Environmental Declaration published through a recognized program, valid for five years and ready for use in CE marking, public procurement, building certifications, and marketing communications. Along with the document, you receive a well-organized set of environmental product data, which serves as the basis for developing a Digital Product Passport (DPP), subsequent declarations, and consciously building the company’s reputation as a manufacturer that understands the environmental impact of its products.
