Sustainability report 2025

The time has come to try on for ourselves the shoes we’ve been making for our customers for a decade. The ESRS standards now serve as the lens through which we evaluate our own actions and their impact on the environment. In this report, we distinguish between direct impacts—those that MATERIALITY generates on its own—and indirect impacts, which arise from our work for clients operating on a much larger scale than we do. For consulting firms, it is precisely this second type of impact that carries the most weight, which is why we believe the time has come to start measuring and reporting on it. We describe ourselves as “sustainability pathfinders,” and the role of a guide on the paths of sustainable development begins with taking our own first steps and encouraging others to do the same.

Last year brought us good results, although there were also some challenges. Revenue grew by 18%, and net income by as much as 73.5%; we also expanded our team and office, which contributed to an increase in our own emissions. In contrast, among a comparable group of clients, total greenhouse gas emissions fell by 4% while their revenue increased by 5.5%. This result is not due to our efforts; rather, we view it as a benchmark against which we will compare the trajectory of our client portfolio in the coming years.

Many challenges still lie ahead for us and our clients, ranging from geopolitical tensions to the escalating climate crisis. It is precisely under these conditions that we are seeking paths for MATERIALITY to follow—and ones worth recommending to our clients.
