Sustainability Specialist

We are looking for someone with experience in the field of sustainable development who would like to develop their consulting skills alongside the MATERIALITY team.

Who are we looking for?

To perform your job efficiently and satisfactorily in our company in this position, you will need the following skills:

  • Higher education (bachelor's or master's degree), 
  • At least 3 years of experience in a position related to sustainable development, 
  • A good command of Polish at a minimum C+ level, 
  • Good command of English (preferably C+ level), 
  • Identifying with our mission, values, and approach to work. 

You will need to be proficient in at least one of the following subject areas: 

  • ESRS Standards, IFRS S1 and S2, SASB, GRI Standards, SIN, 
  • The EU Taxonomy for Environmentally Sustainable Activities, together with the Technical Qualification Criteria and the requirements of the delegated act under Article 8, 
  • KSUA Standard 3002PL, Due Diligence Regarding the Environment and Human Rights Based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, draft CSDDD directive, 
  • MSCI, Refinitiv, Sustainalitycs, S&P, and EcoVadis ratings; reporting to CDP (Climate, Water, and Forests programs), 
  • Issues related to climate change mitigation and adaptation (the Paris Agreement, the “Fit for 55” package, TCFD recommendations, IPCC reports, greenhouse gas emissions calculations), 
  • Circular economy issues, material flow analysis, materials science, circular business models, 
  • Environmental engineering, Polish and EU regulations regarding companies’ environmental obligations, pollution control and prevention, the REACH Regulation and the RoHS Directive, the Waste Directive, Polish regulations on waste management, the BDO system, 
  • Biodiversity and ecosystem issues, the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, the results of the UN CBD's work, TNFD recommendations, the LEAP process, 
  • Quantitative and qualitative research, selection and application of research methods to issues, principles for determining significance, analysis of value chains and supply chains, risk analysis.

Job description

Providing clients, under the manager's supervision, with consulting services in the area of sustainable development, including: 

  • Planning and executing work in accordance with project schedules, 
  • Preparing recommendations for actions, presenting them, and justifying them, 
  • Conducting all or parts of workshop meetings with project teams on the client's side, 
  • Ongoing contact with client representatives, 
  • Participating in meetings, 
  • Keeping status notes. 

Under the supervision of a manager, carry out other projects related to sustainable development management for clients, including: 

  • Searching, analyzing, and drawing conclusions based on source materials (reports, articles, scientific publications, legal regulations), 
  • Conducting analyses of companies' value chains, their organizational structures, and business models, 
  • Carrying out specific tasks as part of projects conducted for clients: materiality studies, analyses of climate-related risks and opportunities, scenario analyses, 
  • Preparing descriptions of individual projects (describing the process, methodology, and project results) and adapting them to the requirements of the ESRS standards, 
  • Development of corporate ESG strategic documents—sustainability strategies, action plans, roadmaps, 
  • Developing policies on sustainable development issues, 
  • Collecting and consolidating ESG data using appropriate tools, calculating key performance indicators (KPIs), 
  • Preparing ESG reports based on ESRS and IFRS standards and participating in the report verification processes conducted by certified public accountants, 
  • Analyzing compliance with the EU Taxonomy for environmentally sustainable activities. 

Remuneration

Your remuneration consists of a fixed monthly salary resulting from your employment contract, occasional bonuses, non-wage benefits (benefit program), and free access to MATERIALITY ACADEMY courses. 

We determine salaries based on the pay scale for each employment level. We provide salary ranges for each level. We apply the principle of „equal pay for equal work.” Salaries are determined solely by factors such as professional competence or experience resulting from the specific nature of a given position. We review salary levels once a year. 

We discuss the details of the compensation package with candidates during the first interview.
