Biodiversity and ecosystems are complex issues that require in-depth analysis. That is why at MATERIALITY we guided the Polenergia Group through the process of examining the impact of its facilities and locations on biodiversity, and then supported the client in reporting the results of these activities in its Sustainability Report.
We conducted the study using the IBAT (Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool). We used the results of the study in the development of Polenergia Group Biodiversity Strategy, which integrates the action plan with the LEAP methodology. We explained the intricacies of this four-step methodology (Locate, Evaluate, Assess, Prepare) to the client step by step. With the support of MATERIALITY, experts from the Polenergia Group carried out the first two stages of the study, which consisted of identifying the impact on biodiversity in their own operations and in the value chain, and assessing the dependence and impact of the Polenergia Group's activities on nature. We provided the client with knowledge about the necessary tools, resources, and methods for parameterizing impact, and we developed a method for mapping and presenting KPIs.
The activities carried out by the Polenergia Group in the area of biodiversity are part of a broader ESG Strategy available on the corporate website: https://esg.polenergia.pl/srodowisko/bioroznorodnosc/.
This is the third Sustainability Report of the Polenergia Group that we have had the pleasure of working on together. We are delighted to be able to safely guide the Polenergia Group along the path of sustainable development.
