MATERIALITY in the Tri-City on Taxonomy in the Construction Sector

Justyna Biernacka and Piotr Biernacki spoke at the Tri-City Green Buildings Day 2.0 in Gdynia about the EU Taxonomy of Environmentally Sustainable Activities in Construction. The main focus of the speech was the impact of the new regulation on the real estate market and the construction industry. MATERIALITY partners took part in a block titled „Environmental Responsibility.

The event covered the following topics, among others:

  • Strategy for adapting cities to climate change - Kamil Wyszkowski (UN Global Compact Network Poland)
  • Panel discussion “Climate change and investors” actions" - Michal Guć (v-ce of Gdynia for innovation), Łukasz Śledź (Allcon), Katarzyna Rauber (Yareal), Maciej Gwóźdź (Costa Project), moderator: Małgorzata Mirota-Karp (WSP Poland)
  • Responsible contractor - Sandra Stężały (FineTech).
  • ESG - responsible business - Slawomir Brzózek (ESG director at ENERIS).
  • Circular construction in practice - Dominika Zielinska (Workplace).

Green Buildings Day is a national conference on sustainable buildings and their role in a changing climate. This year's event consisted of three thematic blocks entitled: Climate Change, Environmental Responsibility, and Technology and Sustainable Design.

The impact of climate change on urban life, particularly in the Baltic Sea region, was discussed. Criteria for evaluating companies, countries and other organizations as sustainable - including ESG or taxonomy - were discussed, as well as examples of circular construction, low-carbon technological solutions and sustainable transportation options.

The conference is organized by the Tricity-based design and consulting firm Costa Project and WSP, one of the leading global engineering and consulting services companies.
