Read about our proprietary method for estimating greenhouse gas emissions from end-user visits to Wirtualna Polska Group websites.

Experts from MATERIALITY decided to investigate this issue together with the Wirtualna Polska Group. To this end, they developed a proprietary method for estimating emissions from end-user visits to websites in accordance with the GHG Protocol guidelines. These emissions fall under category 11 in scope 3, which includes, among other things, the use of digital products by consumers – email, websites, audiobooks, and WP streaming. The Wirtualna Polska Group is one of the few organizations that has disclosed such calculations in its Sustainability Report for 2024.

Every minute spent on a website generates greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, as it requires energy consumption in data centers, transmission networks, and as a result of the user's use of electronic devices. The production of this energy is often based on the use of fossil fuels.

Our client's emission estimates were based on electricity emission indicators for Poland, technical parameters of mobile and stationary devices, and data on time spent on the website.

Aware of the impact of its activities on climate change, the Wirtualna Polska Group has set reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions. These targets are part of the Sustainable Development Strategy for 2022-2030.

This year's ESG Report of the WPH Group is already the fifth report that MATERIALITY has had the pleasure of working on. We are delighted to be able to safely guide our client along the path of sustainable development.

We encourage you to read the full Sustainability Report of Wirtualna Polska Holding S.A. for 2024 year.
